On the road!

Well, sorry about the lack of communication as of late.  I was having "issues" with my keyboard not coming up in Blogger.  I am hoping I have it solved, but am typing diligently away on my sister's keyboard in Minnesota for this post.  I've had a most interesting time of things since I left on Saturday.  First, my wallet fell off the back of my bike on I-83 spilling my money, drivers license, vehicle registration and credit cards all over the highway.  After an hour of searching, my friend Mark saw my wallet.  From now on he will be known as "Eagle Eye Adams"!  Long story short, I managed to recover all of my important documents and most of my money.  For anyone traveling North on I-83 between exits 4 and 5, there are two $50 bills and two $20 bills along there somewhere.  You have my blessing if you choose to search.  When I was ready to leave to Lake George from the Americade rally on Wednesday, I somehow lost one of my cargo straps and spent another hour unpacking everything just to discover that the strap had somehow fallen behind the dresser in the room.  And who discovered this?  Who else, but "Eagle Eye Adams".  Man, what am I going to do without him along to help me out of my messes?  Then yesterday while riding to my sister's house in Minnesota I stopped for gas only to have the bike not start again.  Again to shorten a lengthy story, I ended up having the bike towed.  Now here's the rub: AMA towing service called both Suzuki dealers in the Cedar Rapids area only to be told that it would be at least two weeks before they could even look at my bike! Here I am on the road over 1000 miles from home, and they want me to wait at least two weeks to look at my bike!  I stopped riding Harleys because they failed to help when I needed help on the road.  What is with these dealers?  I asked the nice woman from AMA MoTow if she had told them of my situation and she assured me that she had done so.  Will I ever buy another Suzuki?  I don't think so!  I was fortunate that McGrath Powersports took me in and discovered my problem.  My hat is off to those fine folks at this Honda, Yamaha and Victory dealership in Cedar Rapids.  If anyone is in this area, I recommend them most highly!  My problem?  It seems my tank bag disconnected the wire to the clutch interlock switch!  Geesh!  My lesson?  I still have this problem of not living in the moment and trusting that all will be well and good.  If I hadn't been so bent out of shape worrying about what to do, I probably would have thought of the solution to the problem and saved $130 and 3 hours!  I am such a slow learner!  Anyway, I have to leave because I am going out on my sister and brother-in-law's boat for a cruise.  I would like to thank my friend Leigh Anne for supporting me in all of this shenanigans.  She has steadfastly been the friend in need.  I have the best friends!  I'll try to write more tomorrow.  I will be crossing over into Canada on Wednesday, so will not be able to post until I get cell service in Alaska about a week or so later.  I'll give an estimate of dates later.  Until then, ride safe!
